Joan R.  Tunnell
WATERBURY – Joan R. Tunnell, age 73 of Waterbury, passed away on Friday, August 26, 2016 at Waterbury Hospital after a brief illness.

Joan was born May 12, 1943 in Lewes, Delaware, the daughter of the late Claira Becketts. She was raised in Delaware where she attended local schools. She also attended Delaware State University where she majored in English. She was employed for over 32 years as an inspector for Pratt & Whitney in Southington and later in Cheshire. Joan’s greatest joy was her grandchildren and was always happiest while being surrounded by them and her loving family.

Joan is survived by her daughter, Daneen Henry of Waterbury, siblings Diane Bradley and Georgiana Bratten both of DE, her grandchildren; Jesse, Jacquise, Jamisha, Emoni and Tyrell and four great grandsons. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members. She was predeceased by her adopted parents, Floyd and Mozella Tunnell as well as her brother, Nathanial Tunnell.

Funeral services for Ms. Tunnell will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial, 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd Waterbury. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends may visit with Joan’s family on Thursday evening from 5:00 p.m. until the time of service at 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions in Joan’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 417005 Boston, MA 02241-7005.
