WATERBURY – Norma Claire Smith age 74 of Waterbury, formerly of Wolcott, passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at Waterbury Hospital after a brief illness.

Norma was born March 19, 1942 in Waterbury, CT, the daughter of the late Willard F. and Goldie (Elting) Smith. She was educated in local schools and spent many years working for SNET where she held various positions until her retirement and was an active member of the AT&T Pioneers. She was a lifelong member of the First Congregational Church of Waterbury and she enjoyed sewing and making her own clothing.

Among her survivors are her sister, Nancy Ruede of Reading, MA, her nephew. David Scott Ruede and his wife, Marcie of Melrose, MA, her niece, Rebecca E. Reilly and her husband, Michael and their daughter, Kari of Saratoga Springs, NY

Funeral services for Miss. Smith will be held on Friday, September 23, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at First Congregational Church of Waterbury, 222 West Main St Waterbury, followed by burial in New Pine Grove Cemetery. Those planning to attend are kindly asked to meet directly at the church. There are no calling hours.
