NORTH HUTCHINSON ISLAND Fl. – Francis J. Kenney age 71 of North Hutchinson Island Fl. formerly of Waterbury passed away peacefully surrounded by the love and comfort of his family on December 8th 2016 at the Vero Beach Hospice House in Vero Beach Florida. He was the husband of Bernadette (Garrity) Kenney

Francis was born December 3, 1945 in Waterbury, CT the son of the late Jeremiah and Mary (Cremins) Kenney. Francis spent 23 years working for the Waterbury
Police Department retiring as a detective in 1989. He was an avid tennis player and enjoyed fishing and camping. He was a member of the Fort Pierce Fl. Elks Lodge and was always happiest while spending time with his family.

Besides his wife, Bonnie of 52 years, Francis is survived by his son’s, Patrick Kenney of Southbury and Stephen Kenney and his wife, Joanne of Prospect, CT. his brother , Monsignor Jeremiah F. Kenney of Maryland his sister in law, Helen Egan Kenney of North Hutchinson, FL. his 11 grandchildren in addition to his nephew’s, several cousins and other extended family members. He is predeceased by his brother, Robert T. Kenney and his grandson, Matthew S. Kenney

Funeral services for Mr. Kenney will be held on Saturday, January 7th, 2016 when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am at Saints Peter and Paul Church 67 Southmayd Rd Waterbury. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury. Relatives and friends may visit with Francis’s family on Saturday morning from 9 – 10:30 am at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home 1987 East Main St Waterbury, CT 06705.
