SOUTHINGTON - Marcel Blanchet age 81 of Southington formerly of Watertown passed away on Tuesday January 31, 2017 at Hartford hospital surrounded by the love and comfort of his family after a brief illness. He was the husband of Carol (Kearney) Blanchet.

Marcel was born February 23, 1935 in Waterbury Ct the son of the late Romeo and Germaine (Hebert) Blanchet. He was a long time resident of Watertown and was a graduate of Watertown High School. Marcel spent 25 years as the owner and operator of the Marcel Variety Store on Main Street in Oakville. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed spending time outdoors and watching sports, especially the Boston Red Sox and UCONN Women’s Husky Basketball and also enjoyed playing cards.

Besides his wife Carol of 30 years he is survived by his children Marcel Peter Blanchet and his wife, Deborah of Guilford, Eugene Blanchet and his wife, Karen of Woodbury, Eric Blanchet and his wife, Carol of Sultan, Washington, David Fabiano and his wife, Lori Bandelloni of Waterbury, Joseph Fabiano and his wife, Amonda Hannah Fabiano of Southington, his daughter Jodie Fabiano of Rocky Hill, and Michele Papa and her husband, Nicholas of Westbrook, his sister Georgette Christopher of Avon, in addition to his 20 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and other extended family members.n addition to his 20 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and other extended family members.

Funeral Services for Mr. Blanchet will be held on Saturday February 4, 2017 at 9:00am at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd. Waterbury, CT 06705. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery Watertown. Relatives and friends may visit with Marcel’s family on Friday evening from 5:00pm till 7:00pm.at the funeral home.
