WATERBURY – Josephine M. (Murphy) Miller, age 76 of East Orleans MA, formerly of Waterbury and Southbury, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at St. Marys Hospital. She was the wife of Gerald Miller.

Josephine was born on March 13, 1940 in Waterbury the daughter of the late Jeremiah and Elizabeth (Houlihan) Murphy. She was a graduate of Crosby High School and St. Marys School of Nursing. She worked for many years at St. Mary’s Hospital, principally in the Emergency Department. Josephine was not just a wonderful caring nurse but a dedicated wife and mother who treasured her family and time spent with them. Later in her life, Jo returned to school and earned her teaching certificate and taught in the Allied Health Program at Oliver Wolcott Tech where she also became Department Head. She loved her later years on the Cape and she will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Besides her husband of 54 years, Josephine is survived by her children, son, John Miller and his wife, Tara of Cheshire and her daughter, Jennifer Miller of Southington as well as her beloved grandchildren; Dakota, Neve and Cash and many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Gathering in Celebration of Her Life will be held on Tuesday, February 7, 2107 from 10:30 till 11:30 a.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home, 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd in Waterbury.
