Terry's unlimited patience

I am not related to Terry or Jean though we share the same last name. My roots are in Ridgefield, CT. However I met Jean since she taught piano to my son Patrick, and eventually taught me. My mother was Jean Malkiewicz Dowling who played concert piano, but she died early at 47. I told Patrick it was wonderful for him to be taught by Jean who had the same name as his grandmother he never knew. Jean was good to him and encouraged him to play music of all forms. He is still playing as an entertainer now in Boston. While I have very little skill, I enjoyed it. Oh the mistakes I would make in their house on Lally Blvd in Fairfield. Terry would calmy rise from a chair and go for a walk until my lesson was over. But my real appreciation came when one afternoon I was called at home by a man who was upset I had not stopped by his house to inspect hs deck. I tried several times to explain that he reached Michael Dowling, not Terry the zoning inspector. During a break in his tirade I got the words out: "You've reached wrong Dowling, Sir!" Silence, then he said, "Well, sorry, but Terry never came and I waited all afternoon." I imagine Terry enjoyed my music more than calls like that no matter how off-key I was. He was always a gentleman. I think very fondly of him and Jean and how nice they were to many people in Fairfield. Thank you.
