THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE ASSISTING AND CARING FOR THE FAMILY OF REMI ACOSTA JR.

Remi Acosta Jr, 66 passed away peacefully on October 13, 2017 surrounded by his loving family in San Antonio, TX. Remi was born on January 11, 1951 to the late Remi and Amada (Borrero) Acosta in Guayanilla, PR. In his teenage years, he moved to Waterbury, CT, where he met his wife of 37 years, Raquel (Arroyo) Acosta.
Remi lived a life of service to his country and community, having served in the Army National Guard. Remi proudly retired after a distinguished career from the State of Connecticut Department of Corrections where he worked his way up the ranks to District Administrator. After his retirement he served on the Connecticut Board of Pardons and Paroles. Remi was passionate about supporting the Hispanic community and served on the Board of Directors for the Hispanic Coalition of Greater Waterbury and also was the Program Coordinator of the Developmental Support Services Program.
Remi was a truly devoted family man and spending quality time with his family and friends was his greatest joy. In his free time, Remi enjoyed golfing, gardening, hosting family functions and watching the Yankees. He also loved road trips and had explored much of the United States by car with his wife.
Remi will be deeply missed by his children, Remi Acosta III and his wife, Beatriz Contreras, and his daughters Coral Acosta, Nicole, and Arianna Acosta; Nelson Acosta and his wife, Laurie and their daughters, Gia Acosta and Kloe Acosta; Deanna (Acosta) Holt and her husband, David Holt Jr., and their daughter Alessandra Holt; and Jenice Acosta and her partner, Marc Hofbauer.
Remi was the eldest of seven siblings and was predeceased by his brothers Jose and Jimmy. He is survived by his siblings, Andres Acosta, Edgar Acosta, Francisca Acosta, Radames Acosta, and Yolanda Acosta. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends whom he cherished his relationships with.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 18th, 2017 from 10:00am to 12:00pm at Casey’s Eastside Memorial, 1987 E Main Street, Waterbury, CT, 06705. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Memory of Remi may be made to the Hispanic Coalition of Greater Waterbury via their website at https://www.thehispaniccoalition.org/donate
