Obituary for Barbara Kromidas (Kromidas)

Barbara Kromidas (Kromidas)
Barbara A. Kromidas (Olesak) passed away on November 14th, 2017 after a courageous fight with lung cancer. She was 72 years old. Barbara was born on December 17, 1945 in New Britain, CT and she lived for a period of time in New York City, Puerto Rico and then she spent the majority of her life in Kensington, Plainville, New Britain and most recently Waterbury, CT. Barbara worked as a Direct Care Giver in a group home, where she assisted in treating people with mental illness.

Barbara was a very generous, gracious and unselfish human being. She had a huge heart and she always did her very best to care for others, even while she was sick and bedridden, she always found a way to care for others, such as providing holiday gifts for her kids and grandkids. Barbara was also a very strong-minded person and a fighter! No matter how much Barbara was made to suffer over the course of her life from multiple surgeries and uncomfortable medical treatments, she never once complained to the family about it. Her composure, bravery and courage would be a huge inspiration to others. And for this reason, Barbara’s fortitude granted her several more years on this planet, which allowed her to get to know both of her grandchildren. We are forever grateful that Barbara fought as hard as she did.

In life, Barbara loved the simple things. She was an antique collector and an avid music aficionado with an eclectic taste in a myriad of musical genres such as Blues, Motown, Classic Rock, Soul, Gospel, Disco and many others. Music was always playing in Barbara’s home, 24/7. On many occasions, you would hear Barbara singing the classics, verbatim. One of our proudest memories was taking Barbara to see the Allman Brothers band (her favorite band) and getting to meet the band backstage. Those that knew Barbara would know that she loved to laugh. She possessed a wonderful sense of humor and she enjoyed comedies as her favorite movie genre. Her favorite actor was Steve Martin. Barbara was blessed with tremendous faith and even though we will miss her dearly, we are joyous that Barbara has returned home to be with our Lord. Those of us that are left behind shall honor her legacy; rest in peace and suffer no more…
She is survived by her two sons, Michael R. Kromidas (Wife Kelly) of Kensington, Connecticut, New Britain native Stephen R. Kromidas (Wife Adrienne) of Ozark, Missouri, brother Robert J. Olesak of Chonburi, Thailand and her two Granddaughter’s, Trinity J. Kromidas and Aliyah A. Kromidas. Her parents predeceased her. She was the daughter of Joseph Olesak, Jr. and Elizabeth Olesak (Abucewicz) of New Britain, CT.
Thank you to all of the staff at Carriage Manor and Mattatuck health care facility in Waterbury, CT. for your tremendous care giving.

A private memorial was held at Maple Cemetery in Berlin, CT, at the burial site of Elizabeth Olesak. Funeral services were provided by: Casey’s Eastside Memorial of Waterbury, CT
