Obituary for Robert Harold Emmons Sr.
THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE CARING FOR THE FAMILY OF ROBERT EMMONS SR.
WATERBURY – Robert Harold Emmons Sr. age 82 of Waterbury, passed away peacefully with his devoted wife and family by his side on Friday, June 15, 2018 at the Vitas Innovative Care Unit of St. Marys Hospital after an extended illness. He was the husband of Edith Lucille (Curtiss) Emmons.
Robert was born in Waterbury CT on October 2, 1935, the son of the late William and Jennie (Day) Emmons. He was educated in local schools and was a member of the United States Army, CT National Guard Unit. Robert was employed as a truck driver for Diamond Ginger Ale, Arbor Homes, and Southern New England Ice and Oil. He was also a Newspaper Bundle deliverer for the Waterbury Republican American. He was an outdoor enthusiast, especially loved motorcycling, fishing and hunting, but most especially he loved his family. His CB handle was “The PurpleBear”. Robert will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love him.
Besides his devoted wife of 62 years, Robert leaves his children, Robert Jr and his wife, Lynn of TN, Roger and his wife, Penny of FL, Russell Emmons and Ronald and his wife, Patricia of Waterbury. He also leaves his grandchildren; Jennie, Nathan, Katie, & Nick Emmons, Melissa Emmons Stonier and Marcia Emmons and his great grandson, Gabriel Emmons as well as his sister, Jane Emmons Cretella and sister-in-law, Iris Emmons both of Waterbury in addition to several nieces and nephews. Robert was predeceased by his three brothers; Herbert, William and George and his sister, Edith Emmons Arnold.
Funeral services for Mr. Emmons will be held on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home, 1987 East Main St @ Southmyad Rd Waterbury. Burial will follow in New Pine Grove Cemetery.
